Basketball New York Knicks, Kevin Knox is on the rise by Stefano Bentivogli December 23, 2019 The new season for the New York Knicks has been a disappointing one. Yet, as of late, the team has been experiencing a bit of a turn around, winning three of their last six games. Notably, the performance of Kevin Knox has stood out. In the team’s last game against the Bucks, Knox scored 19 points. However, his presence on the defensive end stuck out with his three blocks and his two steals. “I think I played well because I played better on the defensive end,” said Knox. “In the last few games I have focused only on the defensive end, letting the offense come to me. ” While the team was unable to secure the win, Knox’s stellar play was a highlight for New York. Knox’s Continued Effort Knox’s lack of defensive prowess has been notable. While David Fizdale was still with the team, he tried to emphasize that Knox needed to focus more on that side of the ball. Even though the team has moved on from Fizdale, Knox has continued to look to improve in that area. Embracing his bench role, Knox continues to work quietly on his defensive game. “I have to play more energetically, block shots, use my length, contest shots, get more thefts in passing lanes, detours,” said Knox. “This has been my mentality in the last few games. I am trying to continue. ” More Success to Come? Knox’s attitude, efforts, and desire to grow has led to his improvements. Interim coach, Mike Miller, will likely continue to give Knox opportunities to shine as long as he shows this same desire. If he can continue to focus on the defensive end of the ball, as much as on the offensive, the team could see more success and he could see more playing time.
