Basketball New York Knicks Take Strides Toward Promising Future by Staff Post November 26, 2015 Things are looking more up and up for the New York City Knicks this NBA season. After a dreadful 17 wins and 65 losses in the 2014-15 season, things have already turned around. They have acquired new faces Robin Lopez, Derrick Williams and Aaron Afflalo who are all sure to bring the better defense and extra spark for offense this season. Of course the return of leading scorer Carmelo Anthony will always keep the seats of the Garden filled but the real spark has come from a young rookie Center the Knicks drafted, Kristaps Porzingis. The rookie has started the season off scorching hot boasting averages of 12.8 points per game along with 8.6 rebounds including a 29 point game which is the season high among Knick players. It seems as though, Knick fans are starting to believe in President Phil Jackson and his subtle decisions. His decision making in the off season is slowly starting to pay off. Through the first 12 games, the Knicks are 6-6, placing them right at the .500 mark, a place they struggled to maintain the season prior. Knick backcourt veterans Jose Calderon and Sasha Vujacic understand how important it is to be great leaders on and off the court to help lead the Knicks to high degrees after playing on successful teams such as the Lakers and Mavericks. Melo says “Everything takes time” while commenting on the long awaited success of the Knicks. It was just 3 short seasons ago that the Knicks were atop the Eastern Conference lead by the likes of future hall of Famers Jason Kidd and Carmelo Anthony. Now with a very high demand for adequate performance on the season, Melo knows he will have to be great to lead his once prolific team to new heights.
