Soccer New York Red Bulls have Found a Young Star in Abang by Jayson Love July 2, 2015 from: empireofsoccer.comAnatole Abang has cracked the lineup for Red Bulls, and is making the most of his chance. Anatole Abang of Cameroon made his way into MLS off a tryout in the winter, and made the squad signing officially on March 5th. 4 months later, he is becoming a staple up front along with Bradley Wright-Phillips. His header pass to Chris Duval was brilliant in the Red Bull comeback against New York City FC and he was equally brilliant against NY Cosmos to advance Red Bulls to the quarterfinals of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. With the score tied 1-1, Sacha Klljestian, who is also finding his stride, played a corner kick to the middle of the box. Abang timed his run perfectly, and played his free header into the net to give the Red Bulls the lead that they would not relinquish. He simply finds his way to the ball, and seems to figure in positively in the Red Bulls’ attack any chance he gets. The Red Bulls seem to be mixing a nice blend of veteran leadership like Dax McCarty, Bradley Wright-Phillips and Lloyd Sam, and mixing in youngsters like Chris Duval, Matt Miazga, and Abang. Abang may be the best of the bunch.
