New York Red Bulls Host NASL Squad Before Next MLS Game

The New York Red Bulls welcome a break from MLS action, as they currently ride a four-game winless streak that includes three consecutive losses to the Houston Dynamo, Seattle Sounders FC and Philadelphia Union, before they had a draw with FC Dallas back on May 15.

Even with the recent stretch of poor play, the Red Bulls still maintain a fifth-place spot in the Eastern Conference playoff picture, where the top-six teams qualify. At 4-5-4, the Red Bulls have 17 points, one point better than the Columbus Crew SC in sixth place and two points better than the Philadelphia Union, who are just outside the cut-line with 15 points.

The break from MLS action comes with a 2015 U.S. Open Cup fourth-round matchup opposing the NASL’s Atlanta Silverbacks. With information provided by SeatSmart.com, below is the week ahead for the Red Bulls in terms of average ticket prices on the secondary market, including their next MLS matchup, along with their tournament matchup against the Silverbacks.

6/16/2015 | New York Red Bulls vs. Atlanta Silverbacks | Red Bull Arena | U.S. Open Cup | Average Price: $17 | Get-in Price: $2

Red Bulls tickets on the secondary market can be had for $2 at the door against the Silverbacks from the North American Soccer League. The Red Bulls have been disappointing in recent U.S. Open Cup tournaments, with an early exit in 2011 and a fourth-round exit in 2013, which is the same round this matchup is in. The Red Bulls won’t have to worry about the Silverbacks’ offense, as they’ve only managed seven goals all season, but will have to navigate their strong defense that has yielded only nine goals during the NASL season. The Red Bulls should be able to move on and face the winner of Sporting KC and St. Louis FC.

6/20/2015 | New York Red Bulls vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC | Red Bull Arena | MLS Regular Season | Average Price: $37 | Get-in Price: $13

When the Red Bulls do return to the MLS regular season, the level of competition will be raised significantly when they take on the Vancouver Whitecaps FC. The Whitecaps are tied with the Seattle Sounders atop the Western Conference with 26 points and are one of three teams with eight wins in the MLS. It will be the first matchup of the season between the two teams, and will feature the Red Bulls’ high-powered offense against one of the better defensive teams in the league.
