New York Riveters Name Sis Paulsen Assistant Coach

The New York Riveters general manager Chad Wiseman announced on Thursday that the team has brought in Sis Paulsen as an assistant coach for the 2016-2017 National Women’s Hockey League season.

Paulsen played for the University of Wisconsin Badgers from 1999 to 2003, before earning a Master of Science in Sports and Recreation Management from New England College in 2011. She is also a Level Four graduate of USA Hockey’s Coaching Education Program.

Following a stint behind the bench, at New England College from 2009 to 2013, the Eau Claire, Wisconsin native, was named Director of Girls Hockey for the New Jersey Colonials. Paulsen is also USA Hockey’s Girls and Women’s Representative for the Atlantic District.

Prior to being named coach of the New England College Pilgrims, Paulsen served as an assistant coach with the University of Minnesota, Mankato helping to guide the Mavericks to a 11-21-3 record and a trip to the Western Collegiate Hockey Association Quarterfinals.

Before her one year at Minnesota State, she spent three seasons as an assistant coach with the Bemidji State University Beavers, helping to guide them to three straight WCHA Quarterfinals. In addition to her duties as assistant coach with the Beavers’ women’s hockey team, she also spent one year as the head softball coach.

Paulsen will join Wiseman, who will serve the dual role of coach and general manager, behind the bench for the Riveters in the upcoming season. She said, “I am honored and humbled to work alongside coach Wiseman and the entire Riveters organization. The NWHL is made up of the best female hockey players in the world and I am excited to work with these elite athletes.”
