The National Women’s Hockey League and New York Riveters announced on Monday that they will be moving to the Barnabas Health Hockey House in Newark, New Jersey for the 2016-2017 season.

Riveters general manager, Chad Wiseman said, “We are excited to make the move to Newark for our second season. The Barnabas Health Hockey House staff has been very welcoming and we are excited to continue to grow our fan base into New Jersey.”

The Barnabas Health Hockey House, practice facility of the New Jersey Devils, hosted the 2016 Isobel Cup Final this past Spring. The arena welcomes nearly 250,000 community members that participate in the game of hockey, from the youth to high school, collegiate and adult house leagues levels.

The rink is connected to the Prudential Center and is one of two practice facilities in the National Hockey League to be owned and operated by a National Hockey League team.

The President of the Devils and Prudential Center, Hugh Weber said, “The National Women’s hockey League has done a talented job showcasing its talented athletes and providing inspirational stories to hockey fans everywhere. We are thrilled to welcome the Riveters to Newark and share a vision with the team and the league to grow the sport in our communities throughout New Jersey. Women’s Hockey plays a critical role in the development of young athletes and we are excited to be an integral part of the movement.”
