Baseball New York Yankees’ Reliever Andrew Miller has Chip Fracture in Right Wrist by Staff Post March 30, 2016 Source: Rich Schultz/Getty Images North America New York Yankees’ relief pitcher Andrew Miller was pitching a spring training game on Wednesday afternoon when he was hit on the right wrist by a line drive and immediately left the game. On Wednesday night, following a CT scan the tentative Yankees’ closer was diagnosed with a chip fracture in his right wrist. The Yankees announced that Miller will see a hand specialist to determine his next step. Following the comebacker, Miller immediately headed toward the dugout and threw his hat in frustration. The injury could have been worse. Miller was hit on his glove hand and an Opening Day appearance is not yet out of the question. The Yankees will play a split-squad doubleheader on Thursday before playing two exhibition games at Marlins Park in Miami on Friday and Saturday. As spring training comes to an end, Joe Girardi and the Yankees have some tough decisions to make, but like the Yankees said, the injury to Miller could have been a lot worse.
