NJ Devils Sign Reid Boucher to One-Year Deal

The New Jersey Devils announced on Wednesday that they resigned restricted free agent, Reid Boucher to a one year, two-way deal worth 715,000.

Boucher will turn 23 just before training camp, on September 8. He split his time during the 2015-2016 season between Newark and Albany. His time in the big leagues, helped him rack up career highs of eight goals and 11 assists, in 39 National Hockey League games.

In 34 contests with the A-Devils of the American Hockey League, he tallied 19 goals and 13 assists. During the Calder Cup Playoffs, in 11 games, he added four goals and six assists.

The Devils third pick, in the fourth round, 99th overall, of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft has split the past three seasons between the NHL and the AHL. He also had two short stints in Albany during the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 seasons.

In 73 NHL games, Boucher has scored 11 goals and 16 assists, with 10 penalty minutes.

During his second season with the Sarnia Sting, of the Ontario Hockey League, he found the back of the net 62 times, breaking the previous record of 58, which was held by current Tampa Bay Lighting captain, Steven Stamkos.

The record breaking goal, was his fifth hat trick of the 2012-2013 OHL season. For his outstanding play in that season, he was named to the OHL’s First All-Star Team.

Just over two weeks after signing his entry-level contract, he made his debut with the Albany Devils, he scored a goal and two assists. Boucher made his NHL debut on December 4, 2013, after Ryan Carter suffered an injury, he picked up an assist, while being a plus-2 in his debut.

He also become the first Devil to score in the shootout during the 2013-2014 season. He picked up his first NHL goal, on December 18, 2013 in a 5-2 victory over goaltender Robin Lehner and the Ottawa Senators.
