NJPW US Title – ROH WOTW (NJPWGlobal Twitter) New Japan Pro Wrestling has been looking to make a true impact in the United States for quite some time. The company will have the opportunity on July 1st-2nd when they head to Long Beach, California for their G1 Climax Special shows. It appears they aren’t done. Prior to Ring of Honor’s collaborative PPV with NJPW, War of the Worlds in NYC, some breaking news was made. NJPW announced the creation of the IWGP United States Title, which will be won after a round-robin tournament during their time in California. Ring of Honor mainstay Jay Lethal was the first to be announced into the tournament. His mission was simple: Continue his legacy as the “Greatest First Generation Wrestler.” Hangman Page came looking to attack Lethal, possibly making his own statement in that he may be a part of the tournament as well. Double G Sports was on the scene to announce the breaking news. httpss://twitter.com/njpwglobal/status/863201857367408640 httpss://twitter.com/DGS_MainEvent/status/863196253479473152 Approximately 2,200 tickets have been sold for both shows. With this news, fans will be sure to pour in willing to hand their wallet to the company. It is another title added to the NJPW vault, and this one may be the most significant. There may be more opportunities for talent to showcase their skills within the US. Just imagine seeing Tetsuya Naito defending the title on US soil. This could also help fans see more of Kenny Omega. Rumors are he may be having visa issues. If everything can work out in the future, “The Cleaner” might be able to claim another title from New Japan. Last night’s announcement was a monumental one for NJPW. It will be very exciting to see how it all turns out.
