Feature NWHL Announces Preseason Schedule The NWHL eight-game preseason schedule features with all four teams hosting two games each. by Chip Gianni September 16, 2017 (NWHL) The National Women’s Hockey League announced their eight-game preseason schedule on Friday with all four teams hosting two games each. The New York Riveters, Connecticut Whale and Boston Pride will participate in the NWHL/Team Russia Summit Series. The teams will join the series in their preparation for the 2017-2018 season. While the defending Isobel Cup Champions, Buffalo Beauts will battle Team China and the Buffalo Junior Sabres. The venues for all eight games will be the home arenas for all four teams. The RWJ Barnabas Health in Newark, New Jersey, the Terry Conners Ice Rink, in Stamford, Connecticut, Warrior Ice Arena in Boston, Massachusetts and HarborCenter, in Buffalo, New York. Tickets are available on the league’s website at www.nwhl.zone. The exhibition schedule will face off on October 9th at 5:30 PM. Team China will visit the Harbor Center to take on the Beauts. On Friday October 13th, the Riveters will take the ice against Team Russia at 7:00 PM. The Russians will then travel to Stamford for the first of their two matchups with the Whale. Their first meeting is October 15th at 1:30 PM. The next week will begin with the Beauts taking on the Junior Sabres at 8:30 PM on Monday, October 16th. The Whale and Russia will rematch on October 17th at 7:30 PM. Team Russia then travels up to Boston the next night to battle the Pride, at 7:30 PM. The final two games of the NWHL preseason will take place on Saturday, October 21st at 7:30 PM. Team Russia will once again take on the Pride before making their way back to Newark. They will then face the Riveters on Sunday, October 22 at 7:00 PM. The 2017-2018 regular season will face off the following weekend when the Riveters welcome the Pride to Barnabas Health Hockey House at 2:00 PM and the Whale battle the Beauts in Stamford. The first of the two neutral site matchups will take place on November 4th, when the Riveters and Beauts head up to Rochester, New York and Bill Gray’s Regional Iceplex at 7:30 PM. The Whale and Beauts will battle in the second of the two neutral site games on January 14 when they head up to Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania and the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex at 2:00 PM. All Star Weekend will take place in a yet to be determined National Hockey League city during the weekend of February 10 and 11. The playoffs are set to begin on March 17th, with the Isobel Cup Final taking place on March 24.
