Kevin Klein has been having his best season ever, with nine goals, 17 assists for 26 points and a rating of +24. He was on the ice against the Washington Capitals for 18:36, but during the last minute of that game, Kevin blocked a shot from Alex Ovechkin and was forced to leave the ice, visibly in a great deal of pain.

He was x-rayed at the Verizon Center, but those results have not been released yet by the Rangers. But what has been released is that Klein will miss the next three to four weeks. His injury has been described only as an “upper body injury” and until then, one can only speculate on what was injured on Klein by that shot.

I for one will not speculate. The Rangers have declared him out for the next three to four weeks and we just hope he will return a bit earlier than that.

In the meantime, it is expected that Matt Hunwick, who has appeared in 40 games so far this season for the Broadway Blueshirts, will be the man filling in for Kevin.

The Rangers are off until Saturday evening when they will play the Sabres in Buffalo at 7:00 PM. They will then return to NYC and face-off against the Florida Panthers at MSG at 5:00 PM on Sunday.

Let us wish Matt Hunwick good luck, as he will be back on the ice doing his best to help the Blueshirts keep their point and winning streak growing. Let us also wish Kevin Klein a speedy recovery from this setback, so he can rejoin the team and pick up where he left off on a spectacular season.
