The deal is a season-long loan agreement with Colombian side Independiente Medellin, with an NYC FC option to buy at the conclusion of the spell. Calle will join the rest of his new teammates as soon as possible for preseason training in Manchester, England. Calle, 23, who has played for his club since 2009, was an integral part of the squad’s run to the final of the 2014 Clausura Tournament, with six goals in his 13 appearances. Calle was also a part of the Colombian U20 squad that advanced to the quarterfinals of the U20 World Cup in 2011, playing alongside now superstar, James Rodriguez. New York City FC head coach Jason Kreis is excited about the addition of Calle. “He is a left-footed, versatile, and creative player who I believe will adapt well to the MLS and give us some different options in midfield. He has impressed both at club and at international level and we are confident that he will continue to develop with us in New York. Calle will be added to New York City FC’s roster for the 2015 season pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate. Per MLS and team policy, the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
