Gastelum announced to the media during the UFC 205 early weigh in’s via Twitter that his bout was off after he was unable to get within 7-pounds of his opponent, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. By NYSAC regulations, in the welterweight division even if an opponent misses the 171-pound weight limit, as long as they come with 7-pounds of each other the bout is still on. Cerrone had told the media that Gastelum was at 178, once he had already weighed in within the welterweight limit at 170.4.

According to Okamoto’s tweet, it sounds as if Gastelum had appeared and officially weighed in, even at 178, he would not have been suspended.

If the suspension is retroactive to November 11th, Gastelum would be out till May 11th, 2017.
