Basketball Okafor will be the Latest in 76ers Busts by Stephen Ur July 3, 2015 from Vavel.comLA at #2 was a much better fit for Jalil Okafor. They passed on him at the NBA draft. When Jalil Okafor was drafted third overall by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2015 NBA Draft, it was obvious that he was not happy with where he was headed. He seemed to have a fake smile on while taking a picture with NBA commissioner Adam Silver, then he threw his 76ers jersey on the floor short after. Being drafted by the 76ers was his worst nightmare. No one can really blame Okafor for not wanting to go to Philadelphia. This was a team with one of the worst records in the NBA in each of the last several seasons, including the worst when they drafted Nerlens Noel. Okafor is a much better player than just about every player on the 76ers roster, which means being on this team is not fair to him. Most of the time when a team at the bottom of their league drafts a top player out of college, that player becomes what is known as a bust. With Okafor, there is a lot of potential, but not in Philadelphia. Okafor should have gone to the Lakers at #2, where they have a lot more talent with Kobe Bryant, Nick “Swaggy P” Young, Carlos Boozer and more. In Philly, the only potential talent he has is Nerlens Noel, but it just seems unlikely that these two will help this team succeed in the near future.
