On The Farm: Yankees Minor League Update

While all the focus is generally on the major league clubs, the minor league affiliates are in competition as well. These players are working hard to earn a call up. Double G Sports takes a look through the minor league rosters to see which players have gotten off to hot or cold starts. The minor league season is still in it’s early stages as they have only played about seven games to this point.

Key Injuries

– Top pitching prospects Manny Banuelos (pictured) and Dellin Betances, both at Double-A Trenton, have been placed on the disabled list with blisters. Each prospect had started one game this season with good results. Banuelos pitched four shutout innings in his start, giving up just four hits while getting the no-decision. Betances took a loss after giving up four runs in 4.2 innings. Only one of those runs was earned however. Blisters can sometimes be an annoying issue, but they are likely not very serious.

– Class-A Charleston catcher Gary Sanchez has been placed on the DL with an undisclosed injury. Sanchez, one of three top catching prospects in the Yankees system, was batting .238 with two doubles, a home run, and two runs batted in through the first five games.
