Baseball Pacchioli’s Single Gives Patriots Fourth Walk Off Win by Somerset Patriots May 4, 2018 Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots (5-1) were walk off winners for the fourth time in the team’s first six games, defeating the Long Island Ducks (3-3) 6-5 in 11 innings at TD Bank Ballpark on Thursday evening. With two out in the bottom of the 11th inning, Endy Chavez singled, advanced to third on a Justin Trapp base hit, and came home to score on a walk off single up the middle by Justin Pacchioli. “I was just going up there and looking for something that I could hit,” said Pacchioli. “I wasn’t trying to over think it. I was just trying to put the ball in play and make something happen.” The Patriots jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Mike Fransoso and Adam Weisenburger each had RBI singles and Fransoso later came home to score on a delayed steal. The Ducks tied up the game in the top of the third inning on a three-run home run by David Washington (2). Fransoso’s solo home run (1) in the bottom of the fourth inning put the Patriots up 4-3. Long Island answered in the top of the fifth inning on an RBI single by Daniel Fields that knotted the game up at 4-4. Lew Ford’s RBI double in the seventh inning put the Ducks up by the score of 5-4. The Patriots answered in the bottom of the frame with a Justin Trapp RBI single to plate Julio Borbon and make the score 5-5. Randy McCurry (1-0) picked up the win with a scoreless inning pitched. Dennis O’Grady (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing a run on a hit and two walks. The 2018 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford continues on the road until Tuesday, May 8th when the Patriots return to TD Bank Ballpark to take on the Road Warriors at 6:35 pm.
