Patriots Complete Sweep Of Skeeters

Patriots win streak hits season high six games.

622newsBridgewater, NJ – The Somerset Patriots (41-16) defeated the Sugar Land Skeeters (28-30) 3-2 Monday evening at TD Bank Ballpark to complete the four game sweep. The Patriots have now won a season-high six games in a row while the Skeeters have lost seven straight.

 

In the bottom of the first inning right fielder Michael Burgess belted a RBI double to give Somerset a 1-0 advantage.

 

Right fielder Johan Limonta sliced a two RBI double in the top of the fourth inning to give Sugar Land a 2-1 lead.

 

The Patriots regained the lead at 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning when left fielder Aharon Eggleston cranked a RBI double and later came around to score on a wild pitch hurled by pitcher Sean Gallagher.

 

Lucas Irvine earned the win (3-4) tossing six innings while allowing two runs. He struck out a season-high nine batters. Gallagher suffered the loss (1-6) lasting seven innings while giving up three runs. Jon Hunton notched the save (14) pitching the final frame.
