Baseball Patriots RHP Gus Schlosser’s Contract Purchased By Los Angeles Dodgers by Somerset Patriots May 31, 2016 Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots have announced that right-handed relief pitcher Gus Schlosser’s contract was purchased by the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. He will report to Triple-A Oklahoma City. The former Major Leaguer marks the first Somerset Patriots player to have his contract purchased by a Major League organization in 2016. Schlosser went 2-0 with one save over 15 appearances without allowing an earned run to begin the season. In his 15 innings of work, the second-year Patriot allowed just two unearned runs and four walks against 19 strikeouts. He owns a 3-0 career record with the Patriots with a 2.12 ERA, two saves and 35 strikeouts in 34.0 innings pitched. The Sarasota, Florida native appeared in 17 games with the Patriots in 2015 after joining the team in early August. He went 1-0 with a 3.78 ERA and one save over 19 innings pitched. Schlosser spent the first four seasons of his career in the Atlanta Braves organization and first reached the majors in 2014, where he made 15 relief appearances. The 2011 Braves draft pick owns a 37-24 record over his six-year professional career with a 3.44 ERA and nine saves over 532.2 innings of work. Last year, there were seven different players who had their contracts purchased by Major League organizations: Edwin Quirarte (San Francisco Giants), Mickey Storey (Los Angeles Dodgers), Chris Marrero (Chicago White Sox), Sean Bierman (Baltimore Orioles), Lucas Irvine (Arizona Diamondbacks), Connor Little (Atlanta Braves) and Buddy Boshers (Minnesota Twins).
