Football Philadelphia Eagles Outlast Los Angeles Rams, Win NFC East by Stephen Ur December 10, 2017 The Philadelphia Eagles played the Los Angeles Rams at the Los Angeles Coliseum on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles came in at 10-2 while the Rams were 9-3. The Rams got on the board following a Carson Wentz interception when Todd Gurley ran the ball into the end zone from yards out. Wentz and the Eagles would take control from there. He threw two touchdowns – one to Brent Celek, one to Trey Burton – and the Eagles led 14-7 at the end of the first quarter. Wentz found Burton for his third touchdown pass of the half and they took a 21-7 lead early in the second quarter. The Rams were down, but not out. Goff threw a touchdown to make it a 21-14 game. Philadelphia kicked a field goal to make it a 24-14 game at halftime. Los Angeles closed the gap early in the third when Jared Goff connected with Sammy Watkins on a one-yard touchdown. Michael Thomas would block the Eagles ensuing punt and the Rams would return the ball for a touchdown to take a 28-24 lead. On a fourth and goal late in the third, Wentz found Alshon Jeffery on a two-yard strike for a touchdown. The Eagles held a 31-28 lead at that point. That would be the score at the end of the third quarter. The fourth quarter proved to be a very close one. Down 37-35, instead of going for it on 4th and 10 with 2:11 left, the Rams punted the ball away. That would prove fatal as the Eagles ran the clock out and won by the final of 43-35 [they returned Rams lateral for touchdown as time expired]. With the win, the Eagles won the NFC East. Unfortunately, they also lost Wentz to a knee injury.
