While the Philadelphia Phillies have not had the year that many fans had hoped, there are still plenty of things to look forward to in the future. One of those things being the plethora of quality prospects that the Phillies are developing in their farm system. While each individual prospect deserves an in-depth review, it seems ideal to discuss one in particular, that one being Scott Kingery.

Scott Kingery was drafted in the second-round of the 2015 MLB draft. Kingery was viewed as a prospect that could develop to an average player in the majors, but with recent power developments, he could find himself to be a whole lot better than average.

The expectations by most scouts pegged Kingery as having well-below average power in the majors. However, his 14 home runs that he has for the Reading Fightin Phillies in AA may say otherwise.

The knock on hitting home runs for Reading is that it is typically a hitter friendly park. When talking about power numbers, scouts usually say this leads to inflated numbers that do not accurately reflect a hitters true potential.

While this certainly seems to be true in most instances, the impressive thing about Kingery is his home run split. He has hit eight home runs at home and six on the road, showing that he is capable of hitting homers just about everywhere. This shows an indication that the power numbers are no fluke.

This is important because, as mention previously, Kingery was only slated to be an average prospect with well-below average power. His performance this year, however, shows the potential of a player with slightly above average power. If he can continue with these numbers, this Phillies organization will be pleasantly surprised with a player that has the potential to be an All-Star when he reaches the majors.
