Soccer Philadelphia Union Name Tim McDermott Chief Business Officer by Staff Post February 2, 2016 The Philadelphia Union has recently announced that Tim McDermott has taken over the role as the Chief Business Officer. The Philadelphia native will be responsible for all the club’s business operations. These include working closely with the Academy along with the USL Bethlehem Steel FC team. Jay Sugarman, the Union Chairman for Philadelphia, was extremely excited at McDermott`s appointment. Tim’s experience in the NFL, the NBA, and the NHL coupled with his knowledge of the Philadelphia market will enable him to serve as a tremendous business leader for the Union. With Tim and Earnie Stewart, the Union’s Sporting Director, I believe we have assembled a dynamic leadership team that should help bring the Union for success both on and off the pitch”. McDermott went on to say, “Since their start, the Union have built an incredibly strong brand based on a soccer community in the Philadelphia region that is second to none. I love the passion, strength, and energy of Union fans. We will challenge ourselves every day to positively represent the brand, to live the values that Philadelphia is founded upon, and to offer our fans with the greatest experience in soccer. I am truly looking forward to joining the Union and working towards this vision”. McDermott has been in charge of the Philadelphia 76ers since late 2013. He was responsible for helping improve the brand, growing revenue streams and increasing the fan base. He was very successful during this time as Chief Marketing and Innovation Officer. Earlier in his career, he was at the Philadelphia Eagles where is acted at their Chief Marketing Officer.
