Pride Talk; MBB continues to surge, WBB still searching for answers

This edition of Pride talk brings more of the same.  The Hofstra Pride Men’s basketball squad kept their winning ways rolling and were able to handle a very good Charleston team to move to 17-3 overall, 7-0 in the CAA.  They’ve gotten off to their best start since the ’66-67 season and have the second longest winning streak in the nation at 14.

As per usual, Justin Wright-Foreman was excellent, scoring 19 points in the latest contest, an 86-72 victory over Charleston.  The leading scorer?  Eli Pemberton who scored a game high 26 points in the victory.  If Hofstra MBB can continue to win the games they’re supposed to in a tough CAA, they’ll secure the #1 seed in the conference tournament.

The Women’s basketball team has hit a rut and hasn’t been able to secure their first victory in conference play just yet.  Their most recent loss was a 61-49 drubbing at the hands of Drexel.  Boogie Brozoski had another excellent game, scoring eight points, securing eight rebounds and dishing five assists.

Unfortunately, this was the first time in 17 games she didn’t get to double digits.  Even when Brozoski was scoring double digits, the Pride women just weren’t able to get over the hump.  It may be a long road ahead, but eventually the women should be able to break through.
