College Princeton Gets Road Win Over Columbia by Lou Monaco October 3, 2016 (Photo by Rob Samuels – Double G Media) With the score tied at 6-6 after the first quarter Saturday, Princeton exploded for 42 points in the final three quarters to propel the Tigers to a 48-13 road victory over Columbia in the Ivy League opener for both schools at Wien Stadium in New York. Princeton (2-1, 1-0 Ivy) outgained Columbia (0-3, 0-1 Ivy), 439-272, forced two turnovers, and scored touchdowns on seven straight possessions to cruise to the win, ending a five-game road losing streak dating back to last season. Senior quarterback Chad Kanoff continued his steady play thus far this season, completing 21 of 25 passes for 230 yards and three TDs for Princeton, which has won six straight games over Columbia and improved to 70-15-1 in the all-time series. Senior running back Joe Rhattigan had two touchdown receptions of 13 and five yards in the first half, Trevor Osborne had a 26-yard TD catch in the second quarter, and junior John Lovett added two second-quarter TD runs of 2 and 5 yards to give Princeton a commanding 34-6 halftime lead. Kanoff threw his final TD of the day, a 9-yard strike to senior tight end Scott Carpenter in the third quarter and Lovett, who had eight carries for 50 yards, added his third score of the day from two yards out with 4:37 remaining in the third quarter to complete the Tigers’ scoring on the day.
