Q&A With Bryson Stott: Phillies ‘19 First Round Pick

Double G Sports sat down with Phillies 2019 first-round draft pick Bryson Stott as he embarked on his first Spring Training.

Clearwater, FL- Bryson Stott was the Philadelphia Phillies first-round pick in the 2019 Major League Baseball Draft. During his first Spring Training as a professional, Double G Sports had the chance to catch up with the Phils’ prospect.

Double G Sports: “First spring training, you’re here at minicamp, how’s it going?”

Bryson Stott: “It’s fun, it gets boring just doing stuff by yourself so to get around these guys again is awesome.”

DGS: “How was your off-season? What did you do? What did you work on?”

Stott: “It was good. I hit and I lifted and fielded ground balls and everything you need to do on your own and came back ready, and here we are.”

DGS: “How was the pro debut in general and how was Williamsport and that whole experience?”

Stott: “It was cool. Coming down here and just practicing for a week and a half and playing some games in the GCL (Gulf Coast League) and going and getting back in the swing of things with Williamsport was just a blast.”

DGS: “You’ve dressed in a couple of games for the Phillies so far. I saw the picture with Bryce Harper on Instagram, how cool has it been playing in front of thousands of fans and getting to wear the real Phillies jersey?”

Stott: “It was awesome. I grew up with Bryce and seeing what he’s done and being from Vegas, he was an idol always growing up. We talked about that experience growing up and how cool it would be so even though it was a spring training game to be on the same field as someone like that is unbelievable.”

DGS: “What are some things you’ve learned so far from pro ball?”

Stott:  “Every day is a routine. You gotta get in your routine and do stuff that works for you and carry that into the game. It’s an everyday grind.“

DGS: “How thankful are you to the Phillies for drafting you and giving you this whole opportunity?”

Stott: “It’s just a blessing. You can’t really put into words what this means to not only myself but all the people that get to play and put on a professional uniform. I’m just very thankful.
