Hockey Quick Look at the NJ Devils 2015-16 Schedule NHL announced team schedules this week. by Chip Gianni June 26, 2015 The New Jersey Devils schedule for their 33rd National Hockey League season was released on Thursday June 25. The Devils open the 2015-2016 NHL season on October 9 when they host the Winnipeg Jets then travel down to Washington to face the Washington Capitals on the following night. The Devils will play a total of 30 games versus their Metropolitan Division opponents with five each against the Carolina Hurricanes, two home and three on the road, and Columbus Blue Jackets, three home and two on the road. They will face the Capitals and their local rivals New York Rangers, New York Islanders and Philadelphia Flyers a total of four times each. They will have a total of 24 matchups against the eight Atlantic Division teams and 28 versus the 14 Western Conference teams. The Devils’ first home division matchup will be on October 27 when they host the Blue Jackets. The Devils will make their first visit to the Islanders new home in the Barclays Center on November 3 in the back end of their first of four home and home game sets. All four of the home and home are against Eastern Conference teams. These include the Islanders on October 31th and November 3, the Montreal Canadiens on November 27 and 28, the Hurricanes on December 26 and 29 and the Blue Jackets on March 19 and 20. The Devils will play a season high three, three-game home stands on the season. Friday November 6 to Tuesday November 10, Sunday February 14 through Friday February 19 and then closing out the 2015-2016 NHL season on Tuesday April 5 to Saturday April 9. The defending Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks make their lone appearance at the Prudential Center on Friday November 6. The Devils road schedule includes a season high four-game Western Conference swing, with stops in Minnesota, St. Louis, Colorado and Arizona, from January 10 to January 16. The team’s Western Canada trip will be from Tuesday November 17 through Sunday November 22 and the California trip will run from Thursday March 10 until Monday March 14. The Devils will close out their road schedule with a trip to Florida, visiting Sunrise on March 31 and Tampa on April 2. With the growth of youth and high school hockey at an all-time high in the Garden State a number of New Jersey born or raised players will visit the Prudential Center this season. These players include; the Toronto Maple Leafs’ James vanRiemsdyk, the Blackhawks’ Trevor vanRiemsdyk, the Calgary Flames’ Johnny Gaudreau, John Carlson of the Capitals, Kyle Palmieri of the Anaheim Ducks, Kevin Shattenkirk of the St. Louis Blues and Bobby Ryan of the Ottawa Senators. The Devils have 21 weekend games, with 10 Friday six Saturday and five Sunday. Highlighting the weekend slate of games are six early start times, Saturday October 31 against the Islanders and Saturday February 6 versus the Capitals at 1:00 PM. They will also have a 5:00 PM start time for three Sunday games November 8 versus the Vancouver Canuks, March 6 against the Pittsburgh Penguins March 20 against the Blue Jackets. The Sunday February 14 versus the Los Angeles Kings will have a 12:30 PM start time. All other games will have a 7:00 PM start time.
