(George McNish | For NJ Advance Media) The voting has ended and the winners have been announced in the 2016 Double G Sports awards. This category is for High School Boys Team of the Year. Here is a look at the nominees. St. Anthony’s Basketball Ramapo Soccer St. Joseph’s Regional Football Newark Academy Tennis And the winner of the 2016 Double G Sports High School Boys Team of the Year is Ramapo Soccer. A 22-0 overall record. A 9-0 record in conference. That is what the Ramapo High School soccer team did during 2016. Coach Evan Baumgarten led the Green Raiders to a perfect season as they won the Bergen County Tournament and the Big North Freedom Division title. Ramapo capped off their undefeated season by winning the NJSIAA Group 3 championship after a dominant 3-0 win over Toms River South. Ramapo was led by First Team All-State midfielder Sebastian Varela who scored 20 goals during the season. The junior, who was also named Big North soccer player of the year by NJ.com, also assisted on 17 other goals as Ramapo finished their season number two in New Jersey. But the Green Raiders are number one in the Double G Sports High Schools Boys Team of the Year.
