The Rangers fell behind by one early, took a two goal lead, were tied at 3 and then scored three in the third to defeat the gutty Florida Panthers 6-3.

The scoring began when Aleksander Barkov took a pass in front and was able to beat Henrik Lundqvist. The Panthers kept up the pressure and to make matters worse, the Rangers were whistled for a penalty and the Panthers went on the power play. It proved to be a turning point in the game, as Rick Nash took the puck away in the neutral zone and sped past Aaron Exblad, the 18 year old Panther sensation, and swopped in on Roberto Luongo. The Monster Nash went right and back left to neatly tuck the puck by the Florida net minder.

The Rangers added two more goals. The first was Kevin Hayes’ first power play goal in the NHL and the second, was a blast by Marc Staal which was deflected off a Panther.

But the Panthers clawed their way back into this one, as Dave Bolland batted in a loose puck and then on the power play, he set up Brandon Pirri, who beat Lundqvist to the glove side. Henrik did get a piece of it with his glove, but the puck flew past him and into the net.

The third period saw three goals scored and they were all by the Broadway Blueshirts. Dan Boyle started it off by just throwing the puck towards the Panther’s goal. The puck deflected off of Florida Captain Willie Mitchell and eluded Luongo for what would be the game winning goal.

Mats Zuccarello would later bury one past Luongo from his left side for his first goal in the last ten games. And Rick Nash would pick up the puck from Derek Stepan and take off for an empty Florida net, shrug off a Panther player and neatly tuck the puck in for his 31st of the season.

Henrik Lundqvist was steady in the net, did give up three goals, but made 33 saves and some of them were pretty amazing and kept the Rangers in the game.

Carl Hagelin was pulled down late in the third and was awarded a penalty shot, but was stopped by Luongo when he tried to go for the five hole and shot quickly.
