Rangers on Decline after Game 7 Upset

The New York Rangers were just two games from a Stanley Cup title last season after falling 3-1 against the Los Angeles Kings. Unfortunaely, the Rangers lost it all in overtime of Game 5. This season was another chance for the Rangers to return to the Finals to reclaim what was almost their’s last season.

Once more, they were so close, but yet so far.

This season, the Rangers made the Eastern Conference Finals again, but this time, they did not come out victorious. The Rangers had a chance to close out the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 7 at Madison Square Garden. The bigger advantage was that goalie Henrik Lundqvist was 6-0 in Game 7s, and the Rangers were 7-0 all-time in Game 7s at MSG.

Both streaks ended, as did the Rangers season, as the Lightning stole Game 7 by a score of 2-0 and advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals. After losing the Stanley Cup last season and losing the Eastern Conference Finals this season, it seems as if the Rangers are on the decline from here on out.

It looks like the Rangers are going to continue to decline as the seasons go on, but of course, only time will tell.

Is it October yet?
