Rare Colin Kaepernick Trading Card Sold for Over $20K in Auction

The signed Colin Kaepernick trading card, which is in Mint 9 condition, features a “player worn NFL logo equipment patch relic” and is a limited-edition piece of sports memorabilia.

An “ultra-rare” Colin Kaepernick trading card may not have recently sold as much as Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo’s rookie card, but a lot of money was still shelled out for the highly valued item.

TMZ reports that the 2011 Topps Platinum Rookie Patch Autographed Red Refractors card was sold for $20,910 through Goldin Auctions. 50 percent of that sales amount will be donated to Kaepernick’s “Know Your Rights Camp” charity.

The “anonymous” consigner of the card initially bought it for under $1,800 on eBay before turning it over to Goldin Auctions. The unknown person, whose presence is seen on Instagram as “The World’s Largest Private Kaepernick Collector” under the handle name “colinkaepernickcollection,” is also donating some of his consignment profits acquired from the sale to Kaepernick’s charity as well.
