Soccer Red Bulls Extend Invite to Young Award Winner by Staff Post May 16, 2016 What were you doing at the age of 13? Probably not being invited to join an academy team for a professional soccer team would be my guess…I know I wasn’t. But that’s the incredible opportunity that the New York Red Bulls have offered to Charlton Alonso, a 13 year old from Paramus, New Jersey. Alonso isn’t just lucky to be here, he’s talented and successful and was rewarded for his talents at goalie by winning the Allstate “Good Hands®” top goalkeeper – El Portero Allstate award. Alonso felt honored to be receiving the award, saying: “It feels amazing, I am very grateful for it. This means everything to me. It shows me that if I keep putting in the work, I’ll be getting results like this. Now I’ll continue to be aggressive, continue talking and continue to be a leader on the field, which I think that set me apart from the other goalkeepers.” The talent pool continues to be bright for the Red Bulls and if Alonso continues along his path of success then the Red Bulls should have a terrific replacement for Luis Robles waiting in the wings.
