Red Bulls Make Homegrown Player Signings

The Red Bulls have signed homegrown players Mael Corboz, Scott Thomsen and Chris Thorsheim from their academy.

Red Bulls Sporting Director Ali Curtis said about the signings: “We are very excited to be able to add Mael, Scott and Chris. Today is a special moment for these young men as well as for the club. Each player’s development is a testament to their hard work, commitment of their families, the coaching they have received during their careers and the quality of our youth development system.”

One of Curtis’ staples when taking over with the Red Bulls last year was creating and developing a strong academy. With these signings, we now get to see the fruits of those labors. In addition, the Red Bulls now boast 11 homegrown players on their roster, which is five more than any other MLS club.

The future is certainly bright for the Red Bulls. Even more so when you consider that two of these players, Thorsheim and Corboz, were part of an undefeated U-23 Red Bulls team that won the NPSL title in 2014.

Despite the disappointing end to the season, things are still looking up for the Red Bulls.
