Soccer Red Bulls Steal a Point The Red Bulls are next in action at 7:00 pm Friday April 17 by Staff Post April 13, 2015 (CBS) Just two weeks after their first meeting of the season the Red Bulls and D.C. United met again on Saturday night in the nation’s capital. However this time around it did not look like it was going to be a day to remember for the visitors. D.C. United midfielder Perry Kitchen scored twice – off a corner in the 26th minute and just outside the box in the 67th minute – to give them a two goal cushion. Following the second goal it would have been an appropriate time to sit back and say today is not the Red Bulls day… but the team did not give up! Just moments later the Red Bulls earned themselves a corner and Damien Perrinelle put it into the back of the net. The goal not only gave the Red Bulls a lifeline but it was also the first MLS goal for the Frenchman. Perrinelle’s goal also broke a 266 minute shutout streak that D.C. United had held in the two games that followed the Red Bulls scoring on them two weeks prior. In the 90th minute the Red Bulls had a free kick opportunity from 25 yards out. Sacha Kljestan fired a low shot on net that gave D.C. goalie Bill Hamid trouble because it bounced off of his hands and right to the foot of Lloyd Sam, who easily scored to tie the game. It was another instant classic between these two long time rivals and the draw kept the Red Bulls unbeaten streak going to start the season. The point puts the Red Bulls in second place in the eastern conference with eight points — just two behind D.C. United. The Red Bulls are next in action at 7:00 pm Friday April 17th against the San Jose Earthquakes on UniMas.
