College Red Storm Signs Yet Again Another Transfer, Justin Simon by Kayla Machlica April 21, 2016 Justin Simon (AP Photo/Rick Scuteri) Two mornings in a row were lucky for St. John’s Head Men’s Basketball coach Chris Mullin who received yet another commitment. Justin Simon, who will transfer from Arizona, played in 24 games as a freshman last season. He must complete one full academic year of residency before competing for the Red Storm, because of NCAA regulations. Simon, who averaged 7.5 minutes last season for the Wildcats, recorded 2.3 points and 1.2 rebounds per game. He was a top-40 prospect in the class of 2015 and played in 13 Pac-12 games and had his best conference performance against Washington. In that game he posted nine points and four rebounds. Simon also had a season-high 10 points and three steals, helping Arizona win over Missouri. Simon was rated as high as the No. 24 overall recruit and No. 5 point guard coming out of high school. He was a first-team All-NEPSAC Class AAA selection as a senior in 2015 at Brewster Academy in New Hampshire. Simon averaged 12.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists to help lead his school to a 34-1 overall record. In 2014, he was also invited to the Men’s U18 National Team training camp and participated in adidas Nations camp where he ended up ranking ninth in scoring with 14.0 points per game. Simon will join fellow transfer Marvin Clark Jr. as well as in coming freshman Shamorie Ponds, Richard Freudenberg and junior college transfer Bashir Ahmed to add to the St. John’s Men’s 2016-17 basketball team.
