Revolution Outlast Patriots With 11 Inning Win

827newsBridgewater, NJ – The York Revolution (26-20, 50-66) defeated the Somerset Patriots (25-22, 75-42) 5-4 in 11 innings Thursday evening at TD Bank Ballpark. This was the fourth extra inning contest for Somerset in its last eight games.

 

In the top of the third inning shortstop Wilson Valdez hit a RBI ground out to give York a 1-0 advantage.

 

Left fielder Aharon Eggleston evened the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the third inning with a RBI single.

 

York grabbed a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth inning as designated hitter Yeicok Calderson poked a RBI single.

 

First baseman Tevlin Nash blooped a RBI double to expand York’s lead to 3-1 in the top of the sixth inning.

 

In the bottom of the ninth inning the Patriots strung together four consecutive two out hits to tie the game at 4-4. Center fielder Jonny Tucker laced a RBI single while shortstop Robert Andino pounded a two RBI double.

 

The Revolution broke the tie in the top of the 11th inning on a throwing error committed by Andino making the score 5-4 which would be the final.

 

Ron Schreurs earned the win (3-0). Kyler Newby suffered the loss (7-4). Beau Vaughan notched the save (1).
