Revolution Shut Out Patriots 2-0

818vidalwebBridgewater, NJ – The York Revolution (22-18, 62-48) defeated the Somerset Patriots (22-19, 60-51) 2-0 to avoid the series sweep on Thursday evening at TD Bank Ballpark

York took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single by Andres Perez.

The Revolution extended the lead on a solo home run by Bryan Pounds (9) in the fourth inning that made the score the 2-0 final.

Ty’Relle Harris (4-4) picked up the win with 6.2 scoreless innings pitched and eight strikeouts.  Donovan Hand (4-5) took the loss, allowing two earned runs on five hits and eight strikeouts in six innings pitched. Mike DeMark earned his 30th save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning.

“The game was very well pitched on both sides,” said Somerset Patriots manager Brett Jodie. “We had some good chances with less than two outs to score. Their pitchers just got some big time plays to end the threats.”

The Patriots finished 5-2 on this home stand and have won seven of their last ten games.

“These were two series at home that were very good for our team. They were hard fought games that we found ways to win. It certainly showed what this team is capable of doing. I’m proud of how we’ve been playing,” Jodie added.

The 2016 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford continues on the road until Tuesday, August 23rd when the team returns home for a 7:05 pm game against the Lancaster Barnstormers. The game includes Bark In The Park Night. For tickets, call 908-252-0700 or visit www.somersetpatriots.com. Download our Mobile App for free in the Apple or Android App store.
