Rider is unanimous favorite in MAAC Men’s Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll

After sharing the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference regular season title last year, Rider was chosen as the unanimous favorite in the MAAC Men’s Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll, released on Tuesday. All 11 league coaches voted the Broncs to the top spot.

Rider was followed in the preseason poll by Canisius. The two schools shared the MAAC regular season title last season and once again are expected to be at or near the top of the conference.

Iona (three time defending MAAC Champions) and Quinnipiac share the third spot in the poll. Monmouth comes in fifth while Marist and Fairfield are in sixth and seventh respectively. Manhattan and Niagara were picked eighth and ninth. Saint Peter’s and Siena round out the preseason poll in tenth and eleventh.

Isaiah Reese of Canisius and Rider’s Dimencio Vaughn were unanimous selections to the Preseason All-MAAC First Team. Reese is the Preseason Player of the Year.

Joining Reese and Vaughn on the First Team are Iona’s Rickey McGill, Rider’s Stevie Jordan, and Quinnipiac’s Cameron Young.
