Baseball Road Warriors Hang On For 4-3 Win Over Patriots by Somerset Patriots June 2, 2018 Bridgewater, NJ- The Road Warriors (9-24) defeated the Somerset Patriots (19-12) 4-3 before 6,071 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Saturday evening. The Road Warriors took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning on an RBI double by Edwin Gomez and an RBI single by Chris Rivera. Gustavo Pierre’s solo home run (6) in the top of the third inning extended the Road Warriors’ advantage to 3-0. The Patriots cut the lead to 3-2 on a two-run single by Craig Massey in the bottom of the third inning. Massey finished the game 2-for-4 with two RBI. “Massey’s been putting together some quality at bats for us,” said Somerset Patriots manager Brett Jodie. “You always feel like there will be a positive result when he’s in the box. Whether he’s bringing guys in or getting them in scoring position, he’s doing things that help the team and that’s all you can ask for.” Somerset tied up the game in the bottom of the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly by Danny Dorn. The Road Warriors regained the lead with a run in the top of the seventh inning on an RBI single by Osvaldo Martinez that made the score 4-3, which would be the final. Christian Flecha-Astacio (2-1) picked up the win with 2.1 innings pitched. Trevor Foss (1-3) suffered the loss, allowing four earned runs on nine hits in seven innings pitched. Andrew Johnston earned his fourth save of the season after retiring the final two batters of the game. The 2018 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue at home on Sunday, June 3rd with a 1:05 pm game against the Road Warriors.
