The New York Red Bulls gutted out a hard fought victory on Wednesday night against the Chicago Fire. There was a huge sigh of relief as the whistle blew in the 95th minute confirming the Red Bulls first 1-0 victory of the season and only their fourth win overall.

The lone goal for the Red Bulls came off of the foot of Mike Grella in the 58th minute, his fourth of the year. Statistically it was a strange game as the Red Bulls held a lot of the ball with 65% possession but were outshout 14 to seven by the Fire. However the only stat that matters at the end of the match is the final score and that was in the Red Bulls favor.

The win earned Luis Robles his 30th career regular season shutout and it gives the team as a whole a little bit of momentum going into their showdown with NYCFC this weekend. The Red Bulls now sit in fifth place in the east and if they beat NYCFC on Saturday they will be just one point behind them for first place in the Eastern Conference.
