Pro Wrestling The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express to be inducted into the 2017 WWE Hall of Fame by Daniel Yanofsky February 7, 2017 Rock ‘n’ Roll Express (WWE.com) The WWE Hall of Fame is always a great time for all. WWE always plants the seeds for one of the greatest nights in WWE history around this time. After announcing that Kurt Angle would be the first member of the Class of 2017, many were wondering who would join him. CBS Sports broke the news yesterday that the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express will be the latest inductees. httpss://twitter.com/WWE/status/828667863607214080 Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson are considered one of the duos in wrestling history. The popular 80’s team performed for various organizations, including a few NWA-affiliated territories (Jim Crockett Promotions specifically), WCW, the AWA, Smoky Mountain Wrestling and WWE. Their tag team title resume is certainly impressive; they held the Smoky Mountain Wrestling Tag Team Titles 10 times. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express were big fan favorites in a time when wrestling was just starting to get accepted. Their rock star gimmick was very popular, and their feud with The Midnight Express was legendary. They were well known for performing in scaffold matches and gained a lot of momentum as a result of the booking by Dusty Rhodes. They also won the Pro Wrestling Illustrated award for Tag Team of the Year in 1986. CBS Sports spoke to the newest inductees, who had a lot to say. In regards to the call they received, Morton stated: “It was a surprise. I had a message on my phone [from WWE] to call the number back. I think they got ahold of Robert at the time. When they called, it was just like a suckerpunch. It just knocked us off our feet.” Being very brief, Gibson included: “It’s an honor for Ricky and me to go into the hall of fame.” The two are still performing today. They recently appeared in (TNA) Impact Wrestling’s Total Nonstop Deletion. Their “clash” with Matt and Jeff Hardy was one of the most talked about things on the show. Congratulations to the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express! With another legendary tag team going in, I can’t wait to see how the rest of the class looks. httpss://twitter.com/WWE/status/828800753657540608 Post Views: 1,395 The following two tabs change content below.BioLatest Posts Daniel Yanofsky Baseball Editor, Misc.
