MMA Ronda Rousey to Host ‘Saturday Night Live’ on January 23rd by Daniel Yanofsky January 5, 2016 Ronda Rousey is trading in the California sun for the cold New York air. The Riverside native and former UFC Bantamweight Champion will be hosting “Saturday Night Live” on January 23rd, the shows second episode of the New Year. The musical guest will be Selena Gomez. httpss://twitter.com/nbcsnl/status/684405430261559300?ref_src=twsrc The event will be the first major televised event Rousey has appeared in since Holly Holm beat her at UFC 193 on November 14th in stunning fashion. Before then, “The Rowdy One” was 12-0, and had the world in the palm of her hands. After the loss, Ronda has been off the radar, recuperating from the loss and not being in the spotlight as she once was. It is being reported by UFC President Dana White that Rousey will get her rematch against Holm at UFC 200. While SNL has been hosted by various athletes like Peyton Manning, George Foreman, Derek Jeter and The Rock, Rousey will be the first mixed martial artist to serve as host. This is one of the various TV / movie roles she’s been involved with over the years. She played a role in Furious 7, and the Entourage movie. She is currently set to be the leading role in the Roadhouse remake. There are also rumors that she will be involved in WrestleMania 32 in some capacity. A very interesting move considering Holm beat Rousey, cementing her name in the history books. I wonder if Ronda was offered this before her loss. This could be a great move for Rousey; getting back into the limelight after being in the dark for a while. Showing some confidence will hopefully bring her edge back, while also making it a successful show. Stay tuned, it’s going to be “Live from New York.” Post Views: 1,599 The following two tabs change content below.BioLatest Posts Daniel Yanofsky Baseball Editor, Misc. Sports Editor.
