College Rutgers’ Myles Mack Working Out for Nets by Guest June 3, 2015 Former Rutgers point guard Myles Mack worked out today for the Brooklyn Nets, according to Adam Zagoria of SNY. The ex-Scarlet Knight took part in a pre-draft workout with a number of other draft prospects. Michael Scotto of Sheridan Hoops noted on Twitter that Mack was joined by Quinn Cook (Duke), J.P. Tokoto (North Carolina), Jonathan Holmes (Texas), JayVaughn Pinkston (Villanova) and Jesse Morgan (Temple). In 2014-15, he averaged 13.4 ppg (19th in the Big Ten), hitting 60 three-pointers (15th), and averaged 4.2 assists per game (8th). He was also near-automatic from the line, as his 84.6% free throw percentage ranked third in the Big Ten. Mack was a pillar of consistency for the Scarlet Knights during his time on the banks. He never missed a game in four years, and saw plenty of time on the court, averaging 30.7 minutes in 128 games. During his first two seasons, he was second on the team in scoring, and was the team’s leading scorer during his junior and senior years. The Nets hold the 29th and 41st overall picks in this month’s NBA Draft. Mack could be an option with either pick, especially given the question marks surrounding Brooklyn’s point guard situation. Deron Williams will be 31 in June, is owed over $21 million in 2015-16, and has been on a steady decline over the past few years. The former All-Star and his backup, Jarrett Jack, have both been mentioned in trade rumors as the Nets look to clear salary cap space. A trade of Williams and/or Jack would make Mack a logical pick at either #29 or #41, as the only other point guard on Brooklyn’s current roster is Darius Morris (2.2 ppg last year). It will be interesting to see if Mack works out for any more teams over the next few weeks. The 2015 NBA Draft will take place on Thursday, June 25 from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
