College Rutgers Welcomes Grad Transfer From Villanova by Staff Post June 19, 2015 VUHoops.com With senior kicker Kyle Federico most likely handling field goals and extra-points once again this upcoming season, the team welcomes another kicker in graduate transfer Chris Gough. Making the switch from Villanova, Gough, will be eligible immediately. After graduating the top-two backups from a year ago, and with inexperience behind Federico in redshirt sophomore David Bonagura and redshirt freshmen Michael Cintron and Kevin Daly, Gough will provide another option on the roster – as a kickoff specialist. The Winslow, N.J. native’ strong leg averaged 58.6 yards on kickoffs in 2014, with 18 touchbacks on 90 attempts. In his career for the Wildcats, Gough averagd 59.2 yards per kickoff with 42 touchbacks on 218 attempts. Unless some unforeseen event occurs, it looks like the Ponte Verda, Fla. native Federico (76.2 percent) will solely focus on field goals, and relegate kickoff duties for Gough, or one of the other aforementioned available kickers on the team. The Scarlet Knights open the season against Norfolk State on Sept. 5 at noon. Stick with DoubleGSports for all your Rutgers football updates.
