College Rutgers Women’s Volleyball Loses to Nebraska by Stephen Ur October 31, 2015 Meme Fletcherfrom Scarletknights.com The Rutgers Scarlet Knights volleyball team traveled to Lincoln, Neb. to take on the Cornhuskers. The Knights were looking to win for just their second time in their last 13 tries, while the Cornhuskers, the ninth ranked team in the nation, was coming off of two consecutive losses and had dropped from #3 national ranking. Once again, the Knights took this loss, this time in front of a sold-out crowd of over 8,000 in Lincoln dropping match to Nebraska by a score of three sets to none. The Cornhuskers won the sets by scores of 25-11, 25-17 and 25-14. Despite the loss, sophomore outside hitter Meme Fletcher led the game with her eighth double-double (10 kills and 13 digs) of the season. The 13 digs was a game-high for both teams. Senior Ali Schroeter added 13 digs of her own, and Anna Sudbury added 22 assists, which led Rutgers. Kadie Rolfzen had 12 kills and 10 digs for the Cornhuskers, and Kelly Hunter recorded 27 assists. The Huskers also outscored Rutgers in four different categories: kills (38-27), assists (34-27), digs (45-42) and blocks (7-5). The Lady Knights now sit at a record of 4-19 on the season, including a 1-10 conference record. The Knights will travel to Iowa to take on the Hawkeyes on Halloween night at 8:30 p.m. The Knights will be looking for their second conference win of the season, while the Hawkeyes are still searching for their first conference win of the season.
