Football Sam Darnold cleared to play on Sunday against Cowboys by Chris Passarelli October 8, 2019 The time has come; Sam Darnold has finally been cleared by doctors to play in a game. He will start on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys. With Darnold back, the Jets look for their first win of the season. While Darnold is back, the results may not change because of how porous the offensive line has been. They gave up 10 sacks last week against the Eagles, and the Dallas Cowboys come with a ferocious front line that includes Pro Bowlers Demarcus Lawrence and Robert Quinn. If the Jets want to have a chance to win, they’ll need to protect Darnold better and give him time to hit his targets. Le’Veon Bell is a one man wrecking crew but when the box is stacked with 9 men, it’s hard for him to find any room running or catching out of the backfield. One key player that will be back with the Jets other than Darnold is Tight End Chris Herndon. The young star is returning from a four game suspension for performance enhancing drugs. If Herndon can become a big target for Darnold throughout the season, they can start to build back up on what has so far been a lost season.
