The Topps Company announced today that it has selected 2012 National League most valuable player and three-time World Series Champion Buster Posey as its Brand Ambassador for 2015.

Posey, a two-time All-Star and 2010 National League Rookie of the Year, will handle promotional appearances for Topps, and assist in various social media programs. The announcement concurs one week before the June 17th launch of Topps Series Two Baseball, including a 350-card base set that combined with February’s Topps Series One Baseball makes this year’s card set the company’s largest in 10 years.

“There are few things that are more American iconic than baseball cards, and I am proud to work with Topps on this partnership,” said Posey, who is represented by the Creative Artist Agency. “From rookies to seasoned veterans everyone knows the special excitement that players get when they see their cards, and our goal is to make sure that experience is transferred to the collector.”

The All-Star catcher has been a lifelong baseball fan and was thrilled to be selected as the ambassador. “I was excited, definitely excited coming in for me,” said Posey. “It’s a company that’s great and identifiable for me. I grew up having cards of my own and my grandfather still collects cards.”

Topps Company was more than thrilled to have Buster on board, as he is a role model for young kids and fans of baseball alike. “We welcome Buster as our official ambassador for 2015,” said Clay Luraschi, Topps’ Vice President of Product Development. “There are few people, let alone athletes, who are better role models than he is, not just the way he plays, but in his dedication to off-field activities such as family and community service. We are looking forward to working with him to help us continue to grow and engage our brand.”

Posey, who is in the midst of a three game stet with the New York Mets was the catcher of last night’s no hitter thrown by Chris Heston last night. “Even on the road, you could tell some Mets fans were really into it,” Posey said. “I am sure they (Met fans) wouldn’t have minded seeing it broken up, but there was still a lot of excitement.” The no hitter last night was the third no hitter that Posey has been behind the dish for. Posey also went 3-5, scored once and hit in his fourth straight game. He recorded his fourth three-hit game of the year. Posey also doubled, his seventh of the season.

The card set will also have the first flagship Rookie Cards for Cubs standout Kris Bryant and Diamondbacks star Yasmany Tomas. In addition, the “Highlight of the Year” autograph subset brings the past alive by highlighting iconic moments in baseball history.

The Series Two base set will also include Veterans, Rookies, Future Stars, Award Winners, and new highlights from the 2014 season.
