High School Sports Scotch Plains-Fanwood Swimming, coach Jess Hulnik, Win 2015 Double G Sports Awards by Gregg Snyder January 26, 2016 (Andrew Miller | NJ Advance Media) Scotch Plains-Fanwood Girls Swimming had a year it will never forget, running the table all the way to its first state title since 2006. Under the leadership of head coach Jess Hulnik, Scotch Plains was able to win all 17 of its dual meets in 2015 and secure a Union County Championship. The team finished the 2014- 15 season ranked No. 4 in the NJ.com Top 20. The Union County school won the Public B title with a 109-61 victory over No. 10 Princeton. The tremendous success was a bit of a surprise to many. Scotch Plains-Fanwood was thought to be one or two years away from being a championship squad. However, through the guidance of Hulnik, the team developed quickly and success began immediately. They entered the 2015-16 campaign ranked No. 6 in the NJ.com Top 20 but return just about every top swimmer from last season as they now look to defend their titles. Scotch Plains-Fanwood Girls Swimming is our 2015 High School Girls Team of the Year. In addition, Jess Hulnik was named the 2015 High School Coach of the Year.
