Uncategorized Seton Hall women’s basketball looks for revenge against Rutgers by Staff Post November 16, 2015 USA Today Fresh off a 93-57 victory on opening day, the Seton Hall women’s basketball team (1-0) is back at Walsh Gymnasium on Monday night for a nationally-televised rivalry game with Rutgers (1-0). Monday night’s match-up will be a shot at redemption for The Hall, as it faces a Rutgers squad that edged them in the 2015 NCAA Tournament First Round. It is the first regular season for the in-state rivals since Rutgers left the BIG EAST prior to the 2013-14 season. Rutgers leads the all-time series by a margin of 34-9, but The Hall won the last meeting in Walsh Gym by a score of 45-42 on Jan. 27, 2013. Seton Hall will be firing from all angles on Monday night, starting with preseason All-BIG EAST pick Tabatha Richardson-Smith, who scored 25 points to lead all players against the Bryant Bulldogs, also grabbing five rebounds and two steals. Along with Richardson-Smith will be Tiffany Jones, who had 13 points to go along with three blocks in the opener. The Hall’s new-look starting backcourt of Aleesha Powell and Shakena Richardson combined for 31 points, nine assists and seven steals against Bryant in what was a strong debut. On the other hand, the Scarlet Knights are coming off a 78-65 victory over Saint Joseph’s in their season opener. Kahleah Copper led Rutgers with 30 points and 10 rebounds in the victory, while Tyler Scaife added 24 points. The contest will feature nine players from the Garden State and will be the first of six nationally televised games the Hall will play this season. Prior to the 7 p.m. tip on FS2, The Hall will raise banners commemorating last season’s regular season BIG EAST title and its 2015 NCAA Tournament appearance.
