Pro Wrestling Several top names reported for the 2017 WWE Hall of Fame by Daniel Yanofsky January 12, 2017 WWE Hall of Fame (411Mania) With the start of a new year comes the most important time in wrestling today: The road to WrestleMania 33. Along with that comes the announcements of new members for the WWE Hall of Fame. Over the past few days there have been reports of several legends that will be called to the hall. While WWE hasn’t announced the names yet, reports are saying it will happen soon. According to Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer, the list of names being considered include the following: Rick Rude – An easy choice for WWE, Rude’s induction has been a long time coming. One of the most dominant heels of the 80’s, Rude put on great matches against all of the top guys in the company. A former WWE Intercontinental Champion, Rude was technically one of the founding members of DX. He is also known for creating controversy during the Monday Night Wars, appearing on Monday Night Raw and Monday Nitro on the same night. “The Ravishing One” passed away in 1999. After all these years, Rude may finally get the moment he has earned. Diamond Dallas Page – Bang! The “Master of the Diamond Cutter” has been a prominent figure in the pro wrestling scene for quite some time. He has appeared in both WWE and WCW, becoming a multiple time champion with the latter. One of his career highlights was facing “Macho Man” Randy Savage in 1997, which is considered a “changing of the guard” match. Over the years DDP has been a motivating figure, becoming the founder of DDP Yoga. He has also helped multiple wrestlers get back in shape / helped those who have struggled (Jake Roberts, Scott Hall, Mick Foley). Christian – A Grand Slam Champion with WWE, Christian was well known for his tag team run with Hall of Famer Edge. “Captain Charisma” has won 26 total championships in his career, including the WWE World Heavyweight Title, ECW Title and the NWA World Title. His run in TNA Wrestling helped him evolve outside of the tag team scene. His career ended after multiple injuries (concussions included), but his contributions to the wrestling industry can’t be denied. Mike Rotunda – Best known for his role as I.R.S. and teaming with Ted DiBiase, Rotunda was a multiple time Tag Team Champion. If the rumors are true, he will be inducted as one of the best partners in wrestling history (and the best tax man of all time). He has two kids in the WWE, Bo Dallas and Bray Wyatt. The Natural Disasters – A group comprised of heavyweights Typhoon and Earthquake, The Natural Disasters were WWE Tag Team Champions in the 90’s. While they have won several titles individually, together they were considered an unstoppable force. Earthquake (real name John Tenta) would also be inducted posthumously as he passed away in 2006. More names are most likely going to be announced. We shall see if the rumors are true. As the announcements are made, we here at Double G Sports will keep everyone updated. The 2017 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony will take place on Friday, March 31st at the Amway Center in Orlando.
