Skeeters Crush Patriots 10-1

sept07FINALSugar Land, TX – The Sugar Land Skeeters (24-33, 60-67) defeated the Somerset Patriots (32-25, 82-45) 10-1 Monday evening at Constellation Field.

 

In the bottom of the second inning pitch R.J. Seidel hurled a wild pitch that plated left fielder Johan Limonta to give Sugar Land a 1-0 advantage.

 

First baseman Delwyn Young slapped a RBI single to give Sugar Land a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning.

 

The Patriots cut the deficit in half in the top of the fourth inning when designated hitter Matt Fields pounded a home run (2) making the score 2-1.

 

The Skeeters plated a pair of runs in the ensuing half inning to increase their lead to 4-1. Catcher Kelly Cross ripped a RBI double and designated hitter Willy Taveras blooped a RBI single.

 

In the bottom of the seventh inning the Skeeters scored six runs to make the score 10-1. Second baseman Jeff Dominguez blasted a grand slam (5) and shortstop Renny Osuna drilled a two RBI double.

 

Michael Nix earned the win (2-0) hurling six innings while allowing one run on eight hits. Seidel sustained the loss (2-6) tossing six innings while allowing four runs on six hits.
