The Patriots got off to a great start as Mycal Jones belted a home run (2) on the third pitch of the game. “I’ve been putting a lot of pressure on myself to get the team going in the first inning,” remarked the leadoff hitter Jones. “It seems like if I don’t get going early then we don’t get going until a lot later. I was just trying to lock in and start something and I drove that ball.” Vinny Zarrillo sliced a single in the next inning as Somerset took a 2-0 advantage. The Skeeters scored three times with two outs in the home half of the inning to grab a brief 3-2 lead. Wilfredo Rodriguez pounded a two RBI double while Prince ripped an RBI single.
